Dutch Oven Cookoff

This year Susan and I were able to compete for the state of AZ dutch oven cookoff at the state fair. That is a 3 dish cookoff sponsered by IDOS (international dutch oven society) You have to make a dessert, bread (sourdough or yeast rise) and a main dish. It all has to be done on site from scratch using dutch ovens. We did pretty good. Our dessert took 1st place and our main dish took 2nd place. Our dessert was a chocolate cake with a raspberry sauce and the main dish was a pork loin stuffed with cranberry's and apricots with a mission fig sauce. Our bread wasn't quite done so it took 4th place. We had a good time, but were really tired by the end of the day.

Sorry it's been a while

Well we finally got Daniel married off. We closed on the house and now it's time to try and get unpacked. We have most of the big stuff figured out, but we sure have a lot of boxes to unpack. We are slowly getting everything organized. I really hope I never have to move again.

IT'S FINALLY OURS!!!!!!!

Well we finally closed on our house today. I went and picked up the keys and garage door openers. It was a long process, but the end result will be worth it. With the housing problems going on everyone is making it harder to get into a house. Now we have about a 1 1/2 weeks to get the house cleaned, pack, move, get Daniel married off and get the house we are in now cleaned so we can get our deposit back. It's going to be a busy rest of August.

House Up Date

Jeff and I had to start the loan process over due to the first lender not being straight forward and telling us everything. So we are now working with a broker and should be hearing any day now if we will be able to get a loan to purchase the house.
Either way we will be moving at the end of August because they have rented the house so we will be moving no matter what.
We talked about it and if we don't get the house we are going to go without a pool and down size our housing expenses to be able to put some money away to purchase a home a little later in the year of 2009.
There are lots of rentals in Queen Creek that are much less then what we are paying here and the homes are newer so more engery efficent.
We will keep you posted as soon as we know about the house.

Blog Tag

While visiting a fellow blogger I agreed to playing this silly little game. Now you can join to!!!Here are the directions:1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments

Were getting closer...

Well for the past month or so Susan and I have been looking at, and trying to buy a house. We found a beautiful home and put in an offer; however; someone put in a higher offer and we didn't get it. So we started looking again. We found this house in the Queen Creek area. For those of you not familiar with Arizona, Queen Creek is located to the Southeast of Phoenix. The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and a pool in the backyard. So if you wanted to come visit we have room. We went into escrow on the house on Monday 6/23. Last Friday we had a home inspection done and the inspector said it was one of the cleanest bank owned properties he has seen. They are getting the appraisal done on Monday and we are expecting to close on Tuesday 7/15. I sure hope all goes according to plan.

Some nights are better then others

Well last night about 2:30am Sophia started running around the house barking. That part wasn't all that unusual, but she kept running around like something was wrong. Susan, being able to understand puppy language better then me realized something was wrong. She got up and looked outside. She saw a light flickering but didn't know what it was. She went and looked out a different window and sure enough someone had lit our trash can on fire. She went out in her bathrobe, grabbed the hose and became a fireman. As you can see the trash was a total loss.

Well we are finally back home in the land of the sun. Our flight comming home was delayed by 1 hour. We were supposed to get home Saturday at 10:20pm, but we acually arrived at 11:30pm. Even though it was that late Barry and Diana were kind enough to come and pick us up at the airport. We did have a good trip. Saturday we hung out in Salt Lake and visited with family and friends. It was fun to see everyone.

Were Here!!!!!!!!!

Well we came to Roosevelt to meet Baby Owen. Susan and Ann have been here for about a week and I just got here the other day. He is a really good baby and has been fun to get to know. Russ had to work so we couldn't spend as much time with him as we would have liked, but someone has to work. We stayed at Russ's parents house and it was nice to get to know them. Ann really likes the horses and other animals that Ray and Margaret have at their place. We will be leaving tomorrorw to go back to Salt Lake and then back to Mesa on Saturday night.

Ann's first time horse back riding....

This is Sherriff and Ann, she got to ride him yesterday while we were out at Ray and Margaret's. She has been asking us all week so far and we haven't been able to take her because the baby was born this week. So Ray and Russell took her out.

Here is our new grandson!!!!

This is Charles Owen Grant, born June 12, 2008 at 3:55am. He weighed 7 lbs 9 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. He loves his daddy very much... and knows the sound of his voice very well.
